The Canadian dollar is at risk of losing ground against the US dollar and other low-yielding 'safe-haven' currencies (including the pound and Yen) as weak equity markets provide a drag. This comes despite a decent start to the new week for CAD (See below).

Euro to pound exchange rate gains in afternoon trade as confidence grows that Italy is sorting itself out

The euro to pound exchange rate is 0.13 pct in the blue at 0.8055 at 13:00 in London. The move higher for the euro represents a powerful comeback as the single currency was beat lower by the Spanish sovereign downgrade at the hands of S&P towards the end of yesterday's session.
